CPT Mary Beth Merrick
Military Science Instructor
CPT Mary Beth Merrick is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Temple University and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Aviation Branch in 2000.
Her first assignment was as UH-60L platoon leader with A/1-159th Aviation Regiment at Ft. Bragg, NC. During this assignment, she deployed to the Bahamas in support of Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT) as the Detachment Executive Officer. While at Ft. Bragg, CPT Merrick also served as a Company Executive Officer for B/1-58th Aviation Regiment (ATS) and the 18th Aviation Brigade Secretary General Staff (SGS). In December 2004, CPT Merrick was reassigned to the Combat Aviation Brigade, 3d Infantry Division. In January 2005, she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III as the Brigade Assistant Logistics Officer. Upon redeployment from OIF, CPT Merrick assumed command of HHC, 4th Battalion (Assault), 3d Aviation Regiment. After a successful completion of a successful company command in 4-3 Assault, CPT Merrick assumed command of HHC, 3CAB on 9 March 2007, just prior to the Company’s deployment in support of OIF V/VI. After leading HHC, 3CAB through the first 10 months of their 15 month deployment, she moved back to the Brigade Logistics Section to assist in the planning and execution of the Combat Aviation Brigade’s redeployment.
CPT Merrick’s military schooling includes Airborne School, Aviation Officers’ Basic Course, and the Aviation Captains’ Career Course. Her military awards and decorations include: the Senior Army Aviator Badge, the Basic Parachutist Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
CPT Merrick is married to CW3 (Ret.) Mike Merrick.
