Physical Training (PT)

The Eagle Battalion conducts physical training 3 times a week, every week throughout the semester from 6:30AM until 7:30AM. Those involved with Ranger Challenge often work out 4days of the week, as a certain higher level of physical fitness is required for the events which they are involved.

Leaders Training Course (LTC)

The Leader's Training Course (LTC) is a 28-day, paid, training course at Fort Knox , Kentucky . The LTC is held annually and it's divided into several increments in June and July. Although the course stands as the Army's 2-year ROTC Program entry point, students can examine Army Officership through the LTC experience without incurring any obligation to the Army.

The program of instruction is coordinated between Headquarters U.S. Army Cadet Command and the Region Commander to accomplish the same training, to the same standards, required for the on-campus program during the Basic ROTC Course (Freshmen/Sophomores).

Ultimately, the mission of the Leader's Training Course is to qualify and motivate prospective students to enroll in the Advanced ROTC Course (Juniors/Seniors). Students may also qualify for a 2-year Army ROTC scholarship upon graduation from the LTC.

The Army observes students to determine their officer potential as they receive some of the finest leadership training in America during this leadership-oriented, challenging, and motivating training event. The training includes leadership and confidence building activities such as:

Rappelling

Teamwork Development Course

Water Survival

First Aid

Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC)

The Leadership Development and Assessment Camp is the most important training event for an Army ROTC cadet. The 32-day camp incorporates a wide range of subjects designed to develop and evaluate leadership ability. The challenges are rigorous and demanding, both mentally and physically. They test intelligence, common sense, ingenuity and stamina. These challenges provide a new perspective on a cadet's ability to perform exacting tasks and to make difficult decisions under demanding conditions.

The camp places each cadet in a variety of leadership positions, many of which simulate stressful combat situations. In each position, cadets are evaluated by platoon tactical officers and noncommissioned officers. In addition to demonstrating their leadership ability, cadets must meet established standards in physical fitness, weapons training, communication, combat patrols and additional military skills. Cadets must excel at camp to be competitive for Army commissions.

Training at camp uses small unit tactical training as the vehicle for evaluation of cadet potential to server as a commissioned officer.   Training is sequenced in a logical, building-block manner.

The cadet regiments report to camp on separate dates. This "tiered" approach allows an ideal flow of training, which is maintained for each cycle. The training covers the basic military skills that are needed for the tactical exercises at individual and squad levels. Training culminates with tactics instruction at the platoon level.

Evaluation is constant and begins shortly after the cadet arrives. The tactical officers and NCOs advise, coach, and ultimately, render an official evaluation of the cadet's potential to serve as an officer.

Ranger Challenge

Our best cadets volunteer for Ranger Challenge and take their college and ROTC experience to a whole new level. With their own separate and physical training regime they compete to be the best of the best. After team tryouts, the top cadets from the Eagle Battalion travel to the Regional Ranger Challenge Competition. There they compete with fellow cadets from other ARMY ROTC programs from schools all over the eastern United States.

All cadets are eligible to try out for the team, both men and woman, scholarship and non scholarship cadets in all years of Military Science.

The most fundamental qualities required to be on the Ranger Challenge team are desire, commitment to the team, and most importantly, the willingness to go further then you ever thought you could.

Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP)

The NSTP is a paid three-to-four week clinical elective for Army ROTC nurse cadets. Attendance is voluntary. Our affiliated nursing school awards academic credit for this program.

This elective is conducted at Army hospitals in the United States, Germany and Korea. You get paid while attending NSTP during the same summer as Advanced Camp, which is usually between the Junior and Senior year of college.

During the NSTP clinical elective, you will receive "hands on" experience under the direct supervision of a preceptor -- an Army Nurse Corps officer who works with you one-on-one. Regular coaching sessions enhances your progress, while also providing feedback about your performance.

While you follow the same duty schedule as your preceptor, you could receive training in such areas as patient assessment ... planning of patient care ... nutrition maintenance and feeding techniques ... range of motion and mobility ... medication administration ... emergency procedures ... intravenous (IV) therapy ... and other special procedures and techniques.
