Dr. Mark Edwards accepted the position as a new Physics Chair.
Dr. Mark Edwards, Professor of Physics at Georgia Southern, accepted the position as a new Physics Chair. He will succeed Dr. Woodrum who served the department chair for more than 20 byears and will retire on June 30, 2005.

Physics graduate named The Alum of The Year for the College
Dr. Kara Martin, graduating from GSU Physics in 1991, was recognized as the Alum of The Year for the Allen E. Paulson College of Science and Technology. She was the first Physics graduate to receive the honor (detailed story).

Six physics majors honored Sigma Pi Sigma membership
Justin English, Daniel Jones, Kristen Kasprak, Bryan Nelson, Jonathan Tanner, and David Williams were honored Sigma Pi Sigma membership. The induction ceremony has been given in April 30, 2005. Congratulations!

Dr. Mark Edwards won the Award for Excellence in Service of the University
Dr. Mark Edwards won the 2005 Award for Excellence in Service of the University. He was the first faculty member in Physics to receive this award. Dr. Edward also won the Award for Excellence in Research/Scholarly Activities a few year ago. Congratulations!
