Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Technology

The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology is an academic component of Georgia Southern University and the College of Science & Technology, essential in addressing their respective missions.

The mission of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology is to:

  • prepare individuals to be highly qualified for professional careers within the interrelated fields of engineering and technology;
  • provide opportunities for students to develop an understanding and appreciation of the technological nature and elements of contemporary society;
  • provide opportunity for professional growth;
  • provide a strong foundation for achievement of advanced degrees;
  • contribute to the body of knowledge in the various fields within its scope; and
  • provide related assistance to both the public and private sectors served by the institution.

This mission will be accomplished by:

  • providing an appropriate range of high-quality programs of study;
  • providing courses that serve the general studies needs of the university's students;
  • articulation with industry and post-secondary educational institutions;
  • providing mechanisms of service including consulting, research and technology transfer;
  • providing, developing, and maintaining high-quality faculty, staff and facilities; and
  • supporting the individual program missions.
