Calendar
The calendar year serves
as the standard reporting period for the annual faculty review. Department
Chairs and Directors establish a unit-level deadline for faculty submission
of annual review materials, typically in early to mid-January. The college
normally sets a deadline of mid-February for submission of completed annual
faculty reviews by the Chairs and Directors. Refer to this web site's "Important
Dates" page for upcoming annual review
deadlines.

Policies
An annual evaluation of the work of every faculty member is made for the primary
purpose of aiding in improvement. It also serves as the basis for
determining merit salary increases and reappointment of probationary faculty.
(2003-2004 Faculty Handbook, section 205.04)
In COST, the "Annual Faculty Review" form is the standard reporting
document for annual evaluations of faculty, and the "Annual Review of
Department
Chair/Unit Head" form is the standard document for annual evaluations
of Chairs and Directors. Instructions for their completion is included on
the two forms. The review of faculty members is to be conducted annually by
the appropriate administrator. Copies of the review are to be filed in the
office of the department/unit head and the dean.
