Dr. Dontarie M. Stallings earned a BS in chemistry from Georgia Southern University in 2002 and completed his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Alabama in 2006, where his research focused on ligand-dependant chromium (III) toxicity. Dr. Stallings has an active undergraduate research group which applies biochemistry, surface chemistry, and synthetic chemistry to observe how protein environments affect the activity of immobilized molecules. As a model system he is using the biocatalyst hydrogenase (CpI), a H2ase from the anaerobic bacterium Clostridium pasteurianum, which catalyzes the production of molecular hydrogen [2e- + 2H+ --> H2]. Dr. Stallings is married to the love of his life Natalie and they have three mischievous cats. In his spare time Dr. Stallings loves to ride bikes, play sports, and go to the beach.
