Dr. Whitlock joined the Department of Chemistry in 1994 immediately after completing her doctoral degree. Her research focuses on the synthesis of organic molecules containing indole. She and her undergraduate researchers are synthesizing derivatives of the naturally-occuring dragmacidin alkaloids and tris-indole amines with iron chelating abilities.
