Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction will be offered in fall 2008 for introductory science and math courses. Fall 2008 offerings include the following courses:
- CHEM 1145 - Principles of Chemistry I - four sections
- CHEM 1146 - Principles of Chemistry II - one section
- MATH 1112 - Trigonometry - three sections
- MATH 1113 - Pre-Calculus - two sections
- MATH 1441 - Calculus I - four sections
- MATH 2242 - Calculus II - two sections
- PHYS 2211 - Principle of Physics I - five sections
- PHYS 2212 - Principle of Physics II - four sections
Course offerings will be expanded over the next five years to all sections of these courses as well as the second semester sequence. SI will also be available in Principles of Biology I & II courses (BIOL 2107 and 2108) in Spring 2009. These courses currently do not have any discussion or recitation sections. Each section will have a one-hour SI period, based on the Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) process workshop model. Students who have successfully completed a course will be invited to become peer leaders. Lead faculty in each department will develop materials to be used by the peer leaders.
